Exchange of Letters on the Constitutional Agreement on the Binational Peru-Ecuadorian Commission on Mutual Confidence-Building and Safety Measures

Lima, October the 26th, 1998

His Excellency the Minister:

I have the honour of addressing Your Excellency with regard to the Constitutional Agreement on the Binational Peru-Ecuadorian Commission on Mutual Confidence-Building and Safety Measures, which was drawn up by the Mutual Confidence-Building and Safety Measures Commission, established in the Timetable of the 19th of January 1998.

In this regard, my Government expresses its compliance with the obligations contained in the Constitutional Agreement on the Binational Peru-Ecuadorian Commission on Mutual Confidence-Building and Safety Measures agreed between the delegations of the two countries on the 20th of May, 1998.

The present, and the letter that with the same tenor Your Excellency will please respond with, will constitute an Agreement between our two countries, of which the annexed document referred to in the previous paragraph will form an integral and inseparable part.

The present Agreement will enter into force simultaneously with those others that are signed on the same date and are part of the global and definitive solution referred to in the Implementation of the Brasilia Declaration Timetable, agreed by the Parties on the 19th of January, 1998 and under the conditions set out in it.

I take this opportunity to renew to Your Excellency the assurances of my highest and most distinguished consideration.
